Opportunity description
AJ+ is hiring for an Assistant Producer in Qatar. You will support the team in achieving video production goals, by working with Producers and Lead Producers on specific tasks that form part of the production workflow. This position is bilingual Arabic-English, which will involve regular translation from Arabic to English, and you will need to have a strong understanding of the AJ+ English audience, and how it differs from the AJ+ Arabic audience. You will work a 10-hour shift, 4 days a week (initially: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday). The office is physically located in Doha, and you will be required to be in the office every day (no work from home option).
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Translating AJ+ Arabic and AJA stories into English.
- Editing videos written by producers and lead producers.
- Assisting producers and lead producers with research, interview preparation and other tasks.
- Handling all AJ+ Arabic and AJA content, and presenting stories to the team for re-production.
- Building relationships with other AJ+ teams in Doha.
- Following AJ+ editorial guidelines and ethics to ensure that AJ+ content is consistent with the channel’s goals, standards and style.
- This position is based on a rotating shift system and may require working specific hours during the evenings and weekends.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a relevant editorial role.
- Bi-lingual fluency in English and Arabic.
- Experience in video production or online journalism.
- Strong, fast and accurate video editing skills.
- A clear understanding of AJ+’s editorial identity and content style.
- Ability to work under intense pressure and to deadlines.
- Ability to work long, flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities.
- Preferably with Adobe Premiere.
