Opportunity description

 IREX is offering a job opportunity in Jordan, as it seeks an Operations Officer to support a five-year USAID-funded project, Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan (PRESTIJ) to manage its operations, logistics and human resources. Working with stakeholders including the Queen Rania Teacher Academy, PRESTIJ will support universities to expand and improve pre-service teacher education, and the Government of Jordan to develop and implement teacher education reforms.

Under the supervision of the Senior Operations Officer, the Operations Officer will oversee project’s procurement and contractual activities ensuring adherence to IREX procurement policies and procedures guaranteeing value for money. This position would be engaged with USAID PRESTIJ operational activities, including procurement and logistics.

Duties & responsibilities

  1. Write procurement selection and negotiation memos.
  2. Follow up with vendors and service providers.
  3. Manage service agreements, contracts and consultants files and payments.
  4. Monitor purchase orders and consultants payment trackers.
  5. In coordination with the program team, prepare vendors and consultants payment requests in relation to procurement.
  6. Direct and guide the staff with IREX procurement policies and advise the best procurement approach for the required services.
  7. Maintain selected and preferred vendor records.
  8. Manages health insurance policy.
  9. Manages all project’s logistical aspects and coordinates drivers’ schedules
  10. Manages facility lease and facility maintenance.
  11. Other support duties as needed.


Eligibility criteria

  1. Jordanian residency/work authorization is required. 
  2. BA degree in a relevant field. 
  3. A minimum of 3 years of procurement and operations experience in donor funded (preferably USAID-funded) projects and knowledge of donors’ procurement regulations.  
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) 
  5. Demonstrated knowledge in local laws and donors’ procurement policies. 
  6. Demonstrated high attention to details  
  7. Positive attitude and willingness to support and assist colleagues  
  8. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines. 
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  10. You must have unrestricted authorization to work in Jordan.
