McKinsey & Company is looking for a Crisis Advisor to work in one of its EEMA offices as part of McKinsey’s crisis response function. The successful candidate will closely work with the leader of crisis response, support regional leadership, and collaborate closely with firm professional and consulting leaders and peers.
Duties & responsibilities
- The Crisis Advisor will support leaders and teams during disruptive events, providing integrative leadership, structure, guidance, and recommendations that enable quick and appropriate response during a crisis.
- In this role, the Crisis Advisor will facilitate effective collaboration across teams within risk, technology, legal, people, finance, and client service, as well as any cell impacted by disruptive events. Also, he will advise and work with teams of senior current and former firm members and communicate key decisions, progress, and event status to them.
- The Crisis Advisor will be responsible for helping shape the crisis response function, particularly in the crisis program, helping to evolve the firm’s response strategy through the application of significant expertise, development of practical operating models, playbooks, and supporting tools, as well as implementation activities.
- One of the key parts of this position will be playing a regional role within the crisis response function. The Crisis Advisor will build out additional approaches, tools, and techniques to further prepare the firm for crises and enhance the firm’s ability to avoid, respond to, and learn from crisis when it does occur, tailored to suit the regional context and leadership needs. The Crisis Advisor will guide other managers, and be responsible for the coordination of the low-to-mid level incident response.
- Additionally, the Crisis Advisor will cultivate an external network of people and organizations to both ensure that the company stay up to date with best practice, and to enable access to world-class resources to assist with the response to disruptive events.
Eligibility criteria
- University degree.
- 5-10 years of active risk or crisis-related work, ideally in consulting or global services-oriented firm.
- Prior management role, with emphasis on influencing, coaching, advising.
- Experience interacting with senior leadership of a major company or organization.
- Global mindset and local knowledge.
- Personal leadership /motivational skills, with demonstrated ability to build global consistency while remaining sensitive to national/cultural norms.
- The breadth of crisis management knowledge across all archetypes of crisis.
- Strong judgment, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to define and monitor key metrics that identify and communicate progress and highlight risks.
- Entrepreneurship and innovation, with strong attention to emerging technologies, solutions, and approaches and a desire to introduce cutting-edge thinking.
- Self-motivated and independent thinker, willing to challenge and be challenged in a constructive (and non-defensive) manner.
- Customer-centric style.
- Willingness to travel globally.
