Job Opportunity at Delivery Hero in Germany: Senior Data Engineer

Delivery Hero is offering a job opportunity in Berlin, Germany as a Senior Data Engineer. As the Data Engineer you will be responsible for designing, building, and managing our Data Pipelines and APIs by keeping scalability, flexibility, and stability in mind. You will also be responsible for spreading the best practices within the team and organization.

1. Make user experience seamless. Help users navigate the app easily by surfacing what they might like at the right time.
2. Innovate and use state-of-the-art machine learning and statistical models to create and improve different recommendation strategies.
3. Work closely with other data scientists and engineers to put your models into production.
4. Define and drive the best practices of data engineering within the Global Discovery tribe. Evangelize data science within the tribe and the wider company.
5. Develop and maintain ETL processing pipelines for batch and near-real-time data as well as analytical / machine learning workflows.
6. Build and deploy REST APIs to serve machine learning models.
7. Build solutions at scale and optimize for performance. Every millisecond counts. 
8. Communicate with different teams regarding coding consistency and data availability.
9. Proactively make suggestions on how the team can leverage new technologies and architectures to improve the performance of our data platform.

1. You are a python ninja with proven experience (3+ years).
2. Expert knowledge of SQL/NoSQL(PostgreSQL, BigQuery, etc.) and experience working with large data sets.
3. Experience with performance optimization of databases and building multi-threaded applications.
4. A proven track record in dealing with data ingestion/ ETL processes design and technologies.
5. You are a team player who loves to collaborate and work with stakeholders from different backgrounds in an international environment.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 
7. You are a team player and love to think outside the box.
8. Able to empathize with stakeholders and understand the relationship between data and behaviors.
9. Curious and eager to learn and improve. 

Nice to have:

Knowledge of using terraform in GCP with a focus on data processing and machine learning model deployment.

Ability to design and maintain complex data pipelines and REST APIs

Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Ability to develop strong hypotheses, solve problems independently and generate reports.
