Opportunity description

FAO is offering a job opportunity in Italy-Rome as a Programme Officer (Antimicrobial Resistance Partnership Platform).

Duties & responsibilities

  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyses programme/project development and implementation;
  • Reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions;
  • Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of impact evaluation or equivalent studies, etc.;

Specific Functions:

  • Contributes to the implementation of the Platform's vision and strategy to meet key milestones and indicators in line with the Platform's Terms of Reference (ToRs) and Operational Rules and the agreed workplan through the following responsibilities:
  • Promotes and preserves the Platform's core values, objectives, principles and its inclusive character;
  • Supports the development of the Platform's strategy, work plan and monitoring and evaluation (M-E) mechanism based on the proposed logical framework.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in health, agriculture, social science or international relations and development related studies, as relevant to the work of the Organization.
  • Five years of relevant experience in project or programme management, multi-stakeholder engagement and partnerships.
  • Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate - level B) of one of the other official FAO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions;
  • Extent and relevance of experience in development, coordination, project or programme management, administration or related area;
  • Extent and relevance of experience in stakeholder outreach and partnership engagement, formulation and management of global health projects pertaining to AMR is considered a strong asset;
  • Extent and relevant experience in global health project operations in the UN context is considered a strong asset;
  • Extent and relevant experience in communication, advocacy and resource mobilization is considered a strong asset.
