 IREX is offering a job opportunity in Gaza, Palestine as a MEL and GESI Officer, Education Practice.

In conjunction with the Sr. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Specialist and Sr. Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)Officer, the MEL and GESI Officer will contribute to efforts to promote, design, implement, and manage gender equality, youth participation, and social inclusion activities across program components. The MEL and GESI Officer will support program MEL activities in Gaza, track progress on activity indicators, and ensure effective inclusion practices.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support program MEL activities in Gaza, track progress on activity indicators, and ensure effective inclusion practices.
  • Contribute to developing intergenerational dialogue, GESI, and positive youth development (PYD) capabilities of program staff, partners, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to development of GESI approach that reflects Gaza-specific inclusion risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Apply PYD approaches and Do No (More) Harm approaches and address Gender and Disability Inclusion considerations and Environmental considerations in their work. 

Eligibility criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in gender studies, social sciences, monitoring and evaluation, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of professional experience working on donor-funded international development programs, and experience in MEL and/or GESI roles
  • Demonstrated experience with monitoring, evaluation, and learning best practices, including data collection, measurement, and reporting
  • Experience working with data collection, analysis, and visualization tools
  • Experience conducting research and ability to proficiently articulate findings in English.
  • Understanding of the economic, educational, and youth contexts in Palestine
  • Familiarity with best practices in youth programming
  • Demonstrated success in working with educational institutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge in inclusion and participatory development practices.
  • Data collection skills, including determining data sources and design of data collection instruments
  • Knowledge and experience of qualitative data analysis approaches, data visualization and presentation
  • Understanding of US Government regulations and policies, especially related to MEL and Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA)
  • Ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including youth, government ministries and officials, NGOs, donors, the private sector, and community-based institutions
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution abilities
  • Strong representational and organizational skills
  • Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of individual regardless of gender, disability status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalized status
  • Must be fluent in English and Arabic
  • Palestinian citizenship or residency with work authorization.
