Opportunity description

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) offers a job opportunity at NORCAP Green Shift Project for Female Experts in Energy. You must have a background in renewable Energy, Environmental protection, Humanitarian development, Climate studies, etc as well as a keen interest in learning more and contributing both to the NORCAP's Clean Energy and Sustainable Response work and to the host organization's future Energy plans.  

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. Operational technical support to develop & integrate Energy and Environmental interventions in line with organizations' strategy. 
  2. Support program activities through engagement with relevant stakeholders where the organization's capacity is constrained.  
  3. Represent the organization in relevant working groups/forums & clusters, including governmental organizations, national authorities, international organizations, and donors. 
  4. Develop capacity through technical reporting and development of key staff in the country offices. 
  5. Develop funding proposals and provide technical input for donor reports and fundraising requests. 
  6. Develop actionable activities to respond to emerging challenges in Energy and climate change. 
  7. Contextual Analysis - Identify strategic areas of intervention to increase access to clean energy, renewable energy use, and Energy efficiency in support of the achievement of host/partner countries' National Determined Contributions (NDC) and Sustainable Development Goals. 
  8. Resource Mobilization - Conduct feasibility assessments and data collection on specific thematic including clean cooking technology, household lighting, Energy efficiency, greening of support infrastructure, etc., in support of the Energy transition. 
  9. Stakeholder Engagement - Engagement with potential partners to identify synergies, and explore available investment opportunities with partner organizations, donors, financing institutions, private sector, and development partners. 
  10. Represent host organization in relevant working groups/forums & clusters, including governmental organizations, national authorities, international organizations, and donors. 

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Understanding of the humanitarian contexts in general and clean Energy needs and challenges in specific. 
  • Proven technical experience in renewable energy systems design, implementation, and monitoring. 
  • Knowledge of humanitarian Energy needs (clean cooking solutions, access to electricity, greening the operation.).
  • Knowledge of humanitarian global initiatives such as (Global Platform for Action (GPA), New clean Energy challenge, SAFE, SEforAll, and Moving Energy Initiative).  
  • Knowledge of standard ICT office systems and tools, and Energy visualization tools. 
  • Fluency in English, and preferable knowledge of other UN spoken languages French, Spanish, and Arabic.  
  • Valid driving license, and passport.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree, with 1 to 3 years of experience in renewable energy/ climate studies/ environmental protection/ Energy technology/science/humanitarian laws/ social development/ project development.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with team members and multiple stakeholders at various levels. 
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Cultural sensitivity. 
  • Strong analytical abilities.
