United Nations Volunteers is offering a full time job as a Biodiversity & Climate Change Technical Officer in Jordan.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Participate in the delivery of the project’s outcomes and activities in accordance with the project document and agreed work plan.
  • Liaise with local women’s associations, CBOs, youth networks, and ecotourism operators to ensure inclusive participation.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for consultations, training workshops, field missions, and knowledge product development.
  • Assist in developing and submitting annual detailed work plans for the national implementation of the project and delivery of outputs.
  • Provide administrative (e.g. meeting minutes taking) and Logistic support for the project team.
  • Support communication and outreach actions, including photography, social media content, and visibility events aligned with GAC and UNDP branding, in consultation with the project team and communication officer.
  • Ensure the constant update of the project’s archiving system.
  • Track inclusion indicators and document success stories that highlight the role of women and youth in conservation and resilience.

Eligibility criteria

Age: 18 - 80 

Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

Required experience:

  • 3 years of professional work experience in areas related to environment, biodiversity, natural resource management, sustainability, or community-based environmental initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage workshops, events, and field activities effectively.
  • Ability to take meeting minutes accurately and prepare concise reports.
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Knowledge of Aqaba's ecosystems and stakeholder landscape is an advantage.
  • Experience working with women's groups, youth, or local community-based organizations is desirable.
  • Sound security awareness.

Required education level: 

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in environmental science, natural sciences, engineering, Biology/Ecology/ biodiversity, natural resources management, sustainability, or related fields. 
  • A Master’s degree is an asset.
