Opportunity description

Oxfam offers a job opportunity in Jordan as an Economic Justice Program Manager. You must have at least seven years of proven experience of international experience with middle-income countries with a focus on the middle east leading the development and humanitarian economic justice programming and proven experience in co-creating programs with local partner organizations, building and nurturing a sustainable relationship with local civil society as supporters and allies. You must have experience in managing complex economic development and livelihoods programs (both humanitarian and development) on the following issues: community-based livelihoods approach, social protection, value chain, and enterprise development, in middle-income countries with a focus on the middle east in general and Jordan. The contract length is 12 Months, renewable upon the availability of funds. The salary is 51,411 USD.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for the objective of economic justice that has been defined by the Oxfam Country Strategy that aligns with the Global Strategy Framework and Regional Framework, including managing all projects under the economic justice theme. You will lead your team which is working together to deliver a program of good quality including maintaining a good relationship with Oxfam Confederation, partners, and stakeholders.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Post graduate degree in international development or economics or sustainable livelihoods or closely related fields.
  • Minimum of seven years of proven experience of international experience in similar contexts leading the development and humanitarian economic justice programming in one or more challenging contexts in developing and middle-income countries.
  • Extensive experience and successful track record in managing complex economic development and livelihoods programs (both humanitarian and development) that involve community-based livelihoods approach, social protection, value chains, and enterprise development in middle-income countries with a focus on the middle east in general and Jordan in specific.
  • Proven experience in co-creating programs with local partner organizations, building and nurturing a sustainable relationship with local civil society as supporters and allies.
  • Good knowledge, commitment, and understanding of national and regional inequality trends, livelihood strategies, programs, development approaches, and guidelines particularly how they impact/exclude women.
  • Analytical and strategic planning skills. Sound experience in project design, implementation, and monitoring as well as good leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Sound experience in job creation and regulatory frameworks governing these in the context of a protracted conflict with an international organization, with experience in dealing with humanitarian response covering EFSL.
  • Strong people management skills in managing program teams, and partners’ projects and experience in communicating with a wide range of partners (donors, government, community representatives, and experience in working with the private sector).
