Opportunity description

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) offers a job opportunity in Jordan as an Education Technical Coordinator. You will support the Core Competency Specialist (CCS) in ensuring that NRC Education program approaches and strategies are well-informed and in line with national and international education policies and plans. Your main responsibility of the TEC is to support the Core Competence Specialist and program teams by ensuring high-quality and appropriate curriculum and capacity-building development within programs and with education partners, and conducting quality assurance monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to ensure appropriate application of these. You will be also responsible to support durable solution initiatives related to the education sector and support the organization in further promote the youth compact in Jordan.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
  2. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection.
  3. Promote the rights of internally displaced/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
  4. Contribute to the development of Core Competency strategy, Micro Log Frame, and Plan of Action.
  5. Conduct Core Competency technical assessment and present recommendations.
  6. Conduct specific Core Competency technical research and document findings and recommendations.
  7. Develop specific Core Competency technical indicators and mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation.
  8. Develop specific Core Competency technical guidance, tools, and mechanism.
  9. Develop training modules and provide specific technical learning or/and training for project staff.
  10. Provide training to relevant stakeholders.
  11. Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse)standards &principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.
  12. Develop/support programs to develop appropriate pedagogical Social and Emotional.
  13. Design a system and tools for conducting quality assurance checks on curriculum and instruction, identifying skills/tools gaps, and ensuring effective resolution.
  14. Support education research teams and activities in Jordan and MENA.
  15. Design and implement capacity-building plans for Education and Youth national staff.
  16. Coordinate with partners and represent NRC in Youth Compact initiatives in Jordan.
  17. Support in donor reporting, proposal, and concept note development for Education and Youth.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within the field of expertise.
  • Technical-specific knowledge from the humanitarian sector.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience working in the education sector in Jordan.
  • Extensive experience in developing capacity-building plans and content.
  • Extensive experience with pedagogical and SEL curriculum and teaching/learning material.
  • Design and implementation, and quality assurance.
  • Proven ability to analyze and synthesizes information.
  • Extensive experience with INEE standards, gender and protection mainstreaming.
  • Good coordination and communications skills, including report writing.
  • Experience with the Jordanian MoE is an advantage.
