The International Rescue Committee announces a job opportunity in Yemen as an Associate Responsible for Safe Learning and Recovery Spaces (SHLS). You will be responsible for delivering and implementing the SHLS curriculum and activities for young children and adolescents as well as supporting team members and undertaking other administrative tasks.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Participation in SHLS, SEL, FMD, and SAFE training conducted by IRC staff.
- Use child-centered methods in your approach to working with children.
- Provide a safe environment for learning according to set schedules and routines.
- Report any child safeguarding incidents to the SHLS Officer.
- Submit weekly reports to your responsible manager.
- Collaborate closely with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/improve the security environment for IRC programs.
- Keep accurate records of children's daily attendance.
- Enforce the Code of Conduct on a daily basis at SHLS and in the community.
- Preparing the lesson plan on a weekly basis with the team.
- Monitor children with special needs and ensure that they are well integrated into the various activities, and refer them to relevant services if necessary.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Diploma/degree in social work, or any related degree or equivalent work experience.
- At least one year of experience in implementing child protection programs.
- An understanding of working with adolescents and children, especially children at risk.
- Previous experience delivering skill-building or learning activities to young children.
- Strong and flexible communication skills with children and carers.
- Analysis skills.
- Ability to handle pressure well and work in a multicultural environment.
- Preferably have English language skills.
- Proficiency in the Arabic language.
- You will report to the Child Protection Officer - SHLS.
