The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation is seeking a Cinema Specialist who is passionate, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to the implementation of its cinematic program aimed at promoting film culture and engaging with diverse audiences.
This is a unique opportunity to work in the field of arts and culture, where your primary role will be to support and organize the Foundation’s cinema program. This includes selecting quality films, organizing events such as film weeks and discussions, and collaborating with both local and international film institutions.

Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required by program schedules and events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Contribute to selecting and proposing quality films that foster dialogue and cinematic diversity.
Manage the full film screening cycle — from technical preparation to weekly screenings and special events.
Review film descriptions and subtitles while ensuring the quality of content and presentation in a way that respects both the audience and artistic work.
Support the preparation and distribution of promotional booklets and actively participate in post-screening discussions to enhance cultural understanding.
Organize film weeks, marathons, and specialized workshops, paying close attention to all event details.
Archive films and related materials to preserve the department’s legacy and support cultural research.
Coordinate with embassies and cinematic institutions to present a diverse, high-quality film selection.
Maintain and update databases of film enthusiasts and filmmakers while assisting in managing guest relations.
Support new initiatives such as the Cinema Club and Film of the Month to strengthen cinema’s presence among younger generations.
Handle daily administrative tasks to ensure efficient and professional workflow.
Eligibility Criteria
Required Skills:
Ability to research films, directors, and cinematic topics to support programming.
Proficiency in both Arabic and English, with strong translation, content editing, and proofreading skills for written and visual material.
Competence in using visual translation software, basic editing tools, and digital archiving systems.
In-depth knowledge of Arab and world cinema history, genres, and schools.
Experience in organizing cultural events and film screenings.
Ability to manage databases, archives, and official correspondence with precision and professionalism.
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with internal teams, partners, and guests.
Accuracy in content review, schedule management, and handling sensitive material.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Drama, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role or in the cultural sector.
Previous experience in event organization or film production is considered a plus.
