Generations for Peace is offering a full-time job opportunity as a Finance Director to join the team in Amman, Jordan.
Duties & responsibilities
Leading Finance Department:
- Representing the Department, contributing to Senior Management Team, guiding the department’s development, leading department meetings, and leading liaison between Departments and fostering positive and productive inter-Departmental relationships.
- Guiding each staff member’s recruitment, induction, performance management, development, learning and improvement to ensure each takes on gradually increasing responsibilities with reducing supervision.
- Guiding the Senior Accountants in their supervision of the Accountants.
- Assigning different grants/programmes/functions to different Accountants for balanced workload.
Ensuring efficient and effective financial management for GFP and GFP Inc. finances in compliance with GFP and Donor/Partner policies and reporting requirements:
- Setting policies and providing guidance and training to staff on financial management procedures and supporting documentation requirements to ensure compliance with GFP and Donor/Partner policies and reporting requirements.
- Handling all financial transactions, ensuring value for money, and ensuring all necessary authorities have been obtained.
- Sound cash management, taking action to reduce costs, invest funds.
- Sound tax compliance, including for social security, income tax, withholding tax, sales tax.
- Sound payroll management, for salaries and benefits, and individual tax deductions.
- Maintaining bank accounts, petty cash, credit card accounts, and all GFP and GFP Inc. funds.
- Managing cash flow and generating interest income where possible.
- Managing creditors and debtors.
- Maintaining financial records and ledger accounts and bank reconciliations.
- Producing and presenting financial management information to Senior Management Team.
- Liaising with an independent Auditor (appointed by the General Assembly) for an annual audit to produce audited annual financial statements and recommendations for improved financial management.
- Completing any additional audits and spot-checks required by Donors/Partners.
- Ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reports to Donors/Partners, including full supporting documentation.
- Maintaining an up-to-date asset register of all capital assets and managing their depreciation and planned replacement.
- Conducting internal audit to assess Financial Management procedures and compliance.
- Supporting each Department in budget planning (based on knowledge of costs and on Donor/Partner policies and procurement requirements) including inputs into budgets for proposals to Donors/Partners.
- Supporting each Department in procurement, including maintenance of supplier’s database and the selection of preferred suppliers/contractors.
- Supporting all Departments in contracting with suppliers/contractors for goods/services.
- Liaising with Fundraising and Events staff as required, regarding requirements and invoice payments for GFP events, revenue generation events, and fundraising events.
- Supporting capacity-development of financial management of Local Partner Organisations and GFP locally registered entities and Satellite Offices.
- Supporting the COO with financial risk management.
- Performs any other duties as per guidance.
