Jobs in Turkey: Senior News Editor at TRT

TRT Network is looking for a qualified Video News Editor to work in Istanbul in Turkey, by joining the video team which focuses on producing highly shareable, cutting edge and information packed videos, social cards and explainer videos. The team will focus on digital content that impacts current global trends, news events, social and political issues as well as arts and culture. The Senior News Editor – Video makes crucial editorial decisions under the leadership of Executive Producer; exercises strong editorial judgement; and rules on issues of style and tone. This is a senior editorial position and the position reports to the Executive Video Producer.

1. Manage the Video team.
2. Run the editorial operations key to developing digital video across all of TRT Arabi’s digital platforms. 
3. Lead editorial meetings.
4. Along with the Executive Video Producer and Manager of Digital Content, set the vision and decide on advice on digital video distribution strategy.
5. Continuously drive innovation around video content styles and formats.
6. Approve scripts and video for publishing;
7. Communicate relevant decisions to management and other departments when required.
8. Carry out duties in line with editorial guidelines and ethics of TRT Arabi.

1. Substantial relevant practical experience.
2. First class news judgment and comprehensive understanding of global events, current affairs and trends.
3. Understanding of digital and video journalism.
4. Excellent team leadership skills.
5. Ability to assess new information and react quickly to editorial developments.
6. Excellent communication ability.
7. Thorough knowledge of video production techniques and technology.
8. Thorough knowledge of digital platforms.
9. Ability to work long, flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities.
10. Strong grasp of newsroom operations and workflow.
11. Strong grasp of social media ecosystems.
12. Proven relevant experience.
13. At least 7 years’ experience in editorial roles.
14. Fluent both in Arabic and English (Turkish is a plus).
15. A proven track record of success.
