Care is offering a Job opportunity in Amman, Jordan as a Deputy Regional Director -Program Operations. The Deputy Regional Director -Program Operations (DRD-PD) will ensure the timely and successful implementation of CARE’s programs in the Middle East and North Africa region. The DRD-PO will be responsible for identifying risks to our implementation, and lead, coordinate and strengthen risk mitigation strategies.
Duties & responsibilities
Management, Resource Mobilization for Program Operations:
- Provide on-going leadership support and guidance to Country Directors and other direct reports. This is carried out through country programme visits, performance reviews and discussions.
Strategy development and implementation:
- Ensure 'CARE's program strategies and planned responses are adequately supported and viable through operational capacities and systems. This includes ‘ensuring that scale-up procedures are in place to adapt policies in times of emergency response.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure that risks are identified timely and that appropriate operational risk mitigation strategies are implemented in close collaboration with other key Regional Management Team members.
Oversight and support to country programs operations and delivery:
- Provide oversight and support to country programs operations and delivery to meet CARE standards for program quality and impact, in accordance with CI program principles and the outcomes of the Country Presence Reviews.
Leadership on change management:
- Provide overall leadership of change management processes for the Regional Syria Response and in further COs as required to ensure their effective implementation.
Eligibility criteria
- Educational:Master’s degree or equivalent experience or relevant professional development in related discipline
- Experience / Technical Skills:
- 7-10 years’ extensive leadership experience; experience in strategic and operational management.
- Evidence of extensive experience in international humanitarian & development work at management level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or professional experience with working in the Middle East and North Africa region and experience working in a global organization required.
- A strong commitment to, and a demonstrated experience in, the areas of organizational development and learning, knowledge-sharing and people development
Desired:
- Good grasp of issues related to the cause of poverty and injustice; knowledge of middle east is an advantage.
- Arabic language a huge plus.
- Problem-solving and coordinating solutions across regional programs and teams.
- Skilled in coordinating networks and building synergies across teams.
- Advanced communication, facilitation and consensus building skills
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of donor relations at an operational level.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communications skills.
