UNESCO is offering a job opportunity in Hamburg/ Germany as a Finance Assistant. Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and the supervision of the Finance & Administrative Officer (AO), the incumbent will act as Finance Assistant and contribute to the implementation of the programmes of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
Duties & responsibilities
- FINANCE & TREASURY: Support the AO in managing daily financial transactions
- TAX: Lead to manage all tax issues for the institute
- SUPPORT HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Facilitating staff members on bank account queries, exchanging currency and other financial matters.
- OTHER: Act as Fixed Asset focal point.
Eligibility criteria
Education: Completed University degree with Masters in the field of finance, accounting, and any other relevant field.
Work Experience At least five (5) years’ relevant experience in a UN agency, or International Organisations/ NGO or a development agency.
Skills/Competencies:
- Good knowledge of financial and accounting processes with Application of IPSAS and IAS.
- You have a proven ability to work independently.
- You have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- You are proficient in modern office procedures, i.e. the MS Office package, a well-known database as well as Adobe Acrobat.
Languages: You have excellent command of English and basic level of German.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge in SAP R/3 would be an asset.
- Additional professional part qualification in ACCA or CA.
- Knowledge of UNESCO norms, administrative procedures, and standard practices.
- Languages: Good command and knowledge of French would be an asset.
