WFP is accepting applications for paid IT Operations Internship. This position will be based in Beirut, Lebanon. The internship will be for the period of 8 months from 1 June 2023.
This position is open to qualified Lebanese candidates only. Women and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Duties & responsibilities
Under the supervision of IT Operations Associate, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
- Deploy Corporate tools, prepare equipment according to global standards, update asset register / assist GEMS expert
- Hand Over equipment to staff, train staff on system and corporate tool
- Provide end user support on end-user equipment, Phones, tablets, Laptops, etc.
- Assist in maintaining system infrastructure, switches, access points, office printers, etc.
Eligibility criteria
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelor’s degree) from a recognised university and have completed at least two years of the programme. Candidates should have attended classes in the past 12 months; OR
- Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, a master’s degree) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the past 12 months; OR
- Be a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment in the university; AND
- Be fluent in English. Fluency in other WFP official and working languages is always an asset and may be an additional requirement at some duty stations; AND
- Be fit to travel to, and work at, the duty station of the internship; AND
- Not be sons, daughters, brothers or sisters of WFP employees; AND
- The Programme will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education
Desired skills and knowledge:
- Currently enrolled in a university programme, or recently graduated (within the past twelve months) in Computer science, computer engineering, MIT, or any equivalent.
- Good knowledge on office application, Word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Incumbent should have good communication skills to efficiently communicate with colleagues during support activities.
