L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science invites Egyptian female postdoctoral researchers and PhD students to apply for the Egypt fellowships program which aims to promote the participation of young women in science coming from Egypt. This program identifies and rewards talented young female scientists in the field of Life Sciences (such as biology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, physiology, neurosciences, biotechnologies, ecology and ethology) as well as Physical Sciences (such as physics, chemistry, petroleum engineering, mathematics, engineering sciences, information sciences, Earth and Universe sciences).
Postdoctoral researchers must:
[1] Have obtained a PhD in one of the science fields mentioned above, and only applicants having obtained their PhD during 2013-2018 are eligible
[2] Be of Egyptian nationality
[3] Be working in a research laboratory, institute, or university in Egypt
[4] Be no more than 40 years old by the end of the application period
PhD students must:
[1] Have obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degrees or equivalent in one of the science fields mentioned above
[2] Be full-time students in PhD and registering in the 2nd year of the PhD program, or one year before the thesis defense
[3] Be of Egyptian nationality
[4] Be working in a research laboratory, institute, or university in Egypt
[5] Be no more than 30 years old by the end of the application period
Funding:
The program honors 3 talented young Egyptian women researchers for the quality of their research works and encourages them to pursue a brilliant career in science. One fellowships amounting to €10,000 will be granted to a female Egyptian researcher, and two fellowships amounting to €6,000 each will be granted to Egyptian women pursuing a PhD. The total amount will be used to cover the research expenses and/or travel and accommodation costs related to scientific visits, training, specialized courses etc. of minimum two months abroad. The 3 awarded fellows will be expected to attend the Fellowship Awards Ceremony that will be held between October and last week of November 2018.
