2019 International Wildbird Photo Competition

Every year, as part of the Bird and Nature Festival, an international photo competition dedicated to wild birds, is organized. A selection of the best photos will be presented at the Crotoy during the event, which will take place from April 13^th to the 22^nd, 2019.

The competition is open until midnight on December 2^nd, 2018, to any individual photographer (amateur or professional), with no restraints based on nationality, excluding members of the association, employees, and members of the Jury.

Categories: 

Five categories reserved for photographers over 18:

1. Bird portrait : The subject can be photographed in close-up or whole, but the photo must transmit an emotion through the pose, look, expression… The topic should occupy most of the image.
2. Bird in its environment : The photographs submitted in this category must describe the close relationship between the bird and its natural environment, include it in its familiar landscape, which is the most important part of the picture
3. Bird in action: The jury will appreciate the dynamism and energy of the photo.
4. Artistic vision of bird : The creativity of the photographer, in shooting or post processing, must transform the mundane into a contemplative and artistic interpretation and offer a new perspective on the bird.
5. Bunch of birds : Large swarm of birds in flight or on the ground.

One special category dedicated to young photographers aged 15 to 17 with unique the theme of "wild bird".

Rules:

1. This online competition is open to everybody, amateur and professional photographers, of whatever nationality. 
2. The Festival’s team and the jury members are not allowed to join in.
3. Participants must guarantee that the images they submit have been shot in full compliance with laws related to the preservation of wildlife.

Prizes:

1. A Grand Prix to the overall winner, awarded with an amount of €1,500.
2. A 1^st Prize in each category, awarded with an amount of €800.
3. A 1^st Prize for the category «Young Photographers» awarded with material endowments.
4. A Public Prize awarded to the picture which has got the largest number of votes from the visitors of the exhibition, endowed by the Festival’s partners.

Each winner will be invited to the Award Ceremony on Saturday, April 20^th, 2019, at the Municipal Theater of Abbeville.

Note: For the category of 15-17 years old, participation is free and participants are allowed to submit up to five images. As for the the category of 18 and older, participants can submit up to ten image with fees of two Euro per photo.
