The University of York, UK, invites applications from highly qualified and motivated graduate students to take up the Maria Bourboulis scholarship opportunity in the Department of Sociology at the University of York. The Maria Bourboulis scholarship fund is awarded in memory of York Alumna Maria Bourboulis to continue to support Sociology students.
Applicants should have applied for place a on a full time Masters course on one of the following courses:
[1] Master’s degree in Social Research
[2] Master’s degree in Criminology and Social Research
[3] Master’s degree in Social Media and Social Research
[4] Master’s degree in Society, Culture and Globalisation
Applicants must begin their Masters studies in September, 2018 and have ,or expect, to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent prior to commencing the Masters program. International students will be expected to show evidence that they can compensate for the difference between the Home/European student fees and the International student fees.
Students whose first language is not English need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course they are applying to.
The following tests are accepted for entry:
[1] International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic)
[2] Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic)
[3] Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
[4] Cambridge Proficiency (CPE)
[5] TOEFL iBT (internet based)
[6] Trinity ISE
Applicants must have completed the test within two years of the starting date of their course.
Candidates are selected on the basis of academic excellence. Final decisions are expected to will be made by the middle of July 2018. Successful candidates will be sent a formal letter confirming the offer of the Scholarship by the end of July 2018. Successful applicants will receive an annual stipend of 12,000 euros. Award holders receive the balance as a cash bursary that will be paid directly into their bank account. Continued receipt of all Scholarship is conditional upon satisfactory academic progress.
