Opportunity description

The Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership in International Affairs is inviting applications for the Academy Robert Bosch Fellowship (Central & Eastern Europe and Africa). The Fellowship is a joint initiative of Chatham House and the Robert Bosch Stiftung and is open to citizens of Central and Eastern European Countries and Africa. The Fellowship is an opportunity for emerging and experienced leaders and practitioners to spend 10 months in London as an Academy fellow beginning in September 2018. The fellowship provides an opportunity for research as well as participation in the Academy’s leadership program. The fellowship welcomes research proposals under the following topic: Transition experiences and developments in relations between Central and Eastern Europe and sub-Saharan Africa

A fellow’s time will be split between three key areas:

[1] Completing a personal research project of the fellow's own design undertaken with the guidance of a Chatham House expert, (approximately 50%).

[2] Contributing to the ongoing research activities of their host research team and other Chatham House teams as appropriate (approximately 20%).

[3] Participation in the Academy’s Leadership Program (approximately 30%).

The Leadership Program is a key part of the Academy fellowships. It provides fellows with the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills, network and self-awareness, which they can then draw upon in their future careers as effective leaders in their field.

All Academy fellows participate in, and contribute to, the Academy’s Leadership Program which encompasses the following components:

[1] Intensive induction week.

[2] Weekly discussion seminars.

[3] Global Introductions off-site visits.

[4] Leadership workshops.

[5] Project presentations.

[6] Personal development coaching.

[7] Media training.

[8] Career mentors.

The fellow will receive a monthly stipend of approximately £2,600. Modest provision is made for the costs of relocation, fieldwork, and possible publication costs.
