Opportunity description
Arizona State University (ASU) and the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) are collaborating to offer scholarships to high-achieving disadvantaged Arab youth to complete their master’s degrees online at ASU. Al Ghurair Open Learning Scholars Program will be offering scholarships for 28 different specializations, spanning the fields of engineering, technology, health, education, tourism, and more.
In order to be eligible to apply for the Al Ghurair Open Learning Scholars Program at Arizona State University, Applicants must:
[1] Be Arab citizens – applicants must hold no other passport. Preference is given to residents of the Arab world for at least 12 years.
[2] Be below 30 years old.
[3] Be academically high-achieving – applicants must have a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 in their bachelor's degree (or 85%). Students with a master's degree are not eligible for this program.
[4] Require financial support – applicants must be willing and able to show proof of their financial need in their application.
English Proficiency Requirement accepted by ASU by the time of application:
ASU only accepts International English Proficiency tests such as (TOEFL) score of at least 550 (PBT) or 80 (iBT). Or (IELTS) overall band score of at least 6.5. Or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 60.
When applying for this scholarship, the following documents must be submitted:
[1] Transcript of the most recently completed academic year/degree.
[2] Results for all standardized tests taken (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GRE, …), if relevant.
[3] Salary certificate for every household member who is employed.
[4] Audited financial reports or tax declaration for business, for every business owned by the household.
[5] Proof of freelance work, for every household member who is a freelancer.
[6] 6-month statements for savings and current bank accounts for the applicant, their parents, and their spouse (if they are married).
[7] Family house rent contract, if applicable.
[8] Proof of continuing education and an annual cost of education for each household member currently studying.
[9] Proof of physical or mental special needs or chronic illness among the household members.
Note: It is very important to understand that the process of applying and receiving admission at one of Al Ghurair Foundation partner universities is separate from applying to one of the foundation programs. The Foundation expects students to secure admission to their university of choice. The Foundation is not responsible for coordinating students’ university applications. To receive help with applying to their preferred universities, students are advised to communicate directly with the universities.
