Opportunity description

Transparency International invites remarkable individuals and organizations worldwide, including journalists, public prosecutors, government officials and civil society leaders to participate in the Anti-Corruption Award 2018. It was launched in 2000 as the Integrity Award but was renamed in 2015. The award have a profound impact as it may contribute to social, political and economic developments in the countries to which they relate. Winners are a source of inspiration to the anti-corruption movement because their actions echo a common message: that corruption can be challenged.

Nominees must meet the following requirements:

[1] They must have undertaken an action that is likely to significantly influence, or to have had a significant impact on existing levels of corruption in his/her respective country or region

[2] The action must be one likely to attract interest and emulation in other parts of the world

[3] The action must be particularly courageous and exemplary, inspirational and deserving of wide international recognition

[4] The action must recognize the longevity of commitment to fighting corruption

[5] The award may be conferred to a person (or an organization) discharging official or professional duties as well as to activists from all walks of life

The following categories of nominees are ineligible to apply:

[1] Individuals or organizations of questionable integrity or goals

[2] Members of the Transparency International

[3] Individuals or organizations that submit self-nominations

Selection criteria:

[1] Impact: Fighting corruption is possible and can have impact on society and public good, and the action includes as many people affected by the act of corruption; rather than being solely an individual effort

[2] Courage: The action must be courageous and exemplary, inspirational and deserving of international recognition

 [3] Sustainability: The recipient should recognize the longevity of commitment to fighting corruption

Prizes:

The Anti-Corruption Award Committee responsible for evaluating nominations and choosing winners may choose up to 2 award recipients. The award consists of a trophy and participation in a public award ceremony during the 18th edition of the International Anti-Corruption Conference to take place from October 22 to 24, 2018 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Transparency International is a non-governmental organization and the global civil society organization leading the fight against corruption. From villages in rural India to the corridors of power in Brussels, the organization gives voice to the victims and witnesses of corruption by working with governments, businesses and citizens to stop the abuse of power, bribery and secret deals.
