BIM Africa is offering a Student Advocacy Program for the year 2019, the program is targeting university students (Undergraduates) studying courses related to Architecture, Engineering, and Construction. Student Advocacy Program is designed to teach and create awareness of BIM, its tools, and its processes.  A team of two students is selected from each represented university in various countries. These Student Advocates are trained virtually on BIM and how to present a BIM awareness and training program in their various institutions.

Requirements

  1. University students (Undergraduates) studying courses related to Architecture, Engineering, and Construction.
  2. Be in their penultimate or final years of study at the University.
  3. Be creative, outspoken, dynamic, and able to influence others.
  4. Collaborate with a partner studying a different accepted course of study in the same University.
  5. Diversity in gender of partner is an added advantage.
  6. Prior awareness of Building Information Modelling is not mandatory.
  7. Are citizens of African countries and studying in any African University.

Benefits

With the required support, students will proceed to conduct and host BIM Tool training and Process Advocacy events on their campuses. The events staged in each institution are ranked according to established metrics to select the best performed and highest ranking. Advocates of top rank universities would then have the opportunity to attend a fully-funded BIM (or Construction related) conference outside their country of study.

About BIM Africa

BIM Africa is a non-profit organization that sensitizes construction professionals in Africa on the importance and benefits of Building Information Modelling (BIM) on their daily work activities and construction projects. BIM is an innovative technology and process that has transformed the way buildings are designed, analyzed, constructed, and managed.
Despite its numerous advantages, the construction industry in Africa is slow to adopt the BIM process. BIM Africa believes that the ignorance of the modalities and benefits of BIM is a major cause of the resistance to adoption. As such, BIM Africa is positioned to organize awareness programs, conduct preliminary training, and facilitate the deployment of BIM by construction professionals in Africa.
