Bursaries available for Evidence 2018 in South Africa (for Africans)

3ie is offering seven bursaries for African nationals to attend Evidence 2018 from 25-28 September in Pretoria, South Africa. This regional conference, organised by Africa Evidence Network aims to encourage and promote evidence-based decision-making in Africa. It brings together a variety of stakeholders interested in the production and use of evidence for decision-making, including representatives from government, civil society, universities and the private sector. Discussions will focus on four main areas: quality education, communicable diseases, climate resilience, and good governance.

3ie provides bursaries for trainings and conferences related to impact evaluations and systematic reviews such as the African Evaluation Association’s (AfrEA) international conference, Campbell Collaboration Colloquium, Cochrane Colloquium, and courses organized by CLEAR regional centres, and MEASURE-GEMNet.

Applicants must:

[1] Be nationals of, and currently residing in, a low- or middle-income country.

[2] Be employed by a local agency (i.e., not a multilateral agency or an international organization that has capacity to provide funding for its employees).

[3] Be actively engaged in impact evaluations and systematic reviews.

[4] Provide a letter of support from their employer.

[5] Commit to attending the full duration of training or conferences.

[6] Commit to partake in two (2) post-course surveys; participants’ employers must commit to partake in one (1) supervisor’s survey.

[7] Meet any additional eligibility criteria, as specified by the event organizer.

This opportunity covers:

[1] The costs of round-trip economy-class airfare from the participant's home city.

[2] Accommodation (specified by 3ie).

[3] Registration fee.

Note :Participants are responsible for costs associated with the visa application process, ground transportation such as airport transfers, and meals, which are not included in the registration fee.
