Opportunity description

Are you a primary school teacher? Can your students tell amazing stories in English? Do you want your students’ work to appear in a beautiful book, and be enjoyed by children around the world?

Cambridge English is one of the world's leading English Language Teaching publishers, driven by world-class research and a profound commitment to delivering educational value for the benefit of learners, teachers, educational institutions, employers, and society as a whole. Cambridge English combines the experience and expertise of two world-leading departments of the University of Cambridge, Cambridge Assessment English, and Cambridge University Press.

Cambridge English invites all primary school students under the age of 12 and their English teachers to take part in the Cambridge Story Competition 2018. Students must draw or write an original story on any topic, in English. Stories are submitted by their teachers by the competition closing date.

Participation Conditions:
[1] The Competition is open to any individual over the age of eighteen (18), who is a teacher at a school or other educational institution. Permission from the school or other educational institution is required to enter the competition.
[2] Only one entry per student will be accepted.
[3] Entries must be entirely original to the entrant and has not been published elsewhere.
[4] By entering this competition the participant agrees, if selected as a winner, to participate in all related publicity as may reasonably be requested by Cambridge, including but not limited to: press, print and online publicity which will include publication of their name and may include a photograph of them.

Prizes:
If they win, their story will be published in a beautiful anthology of stories from children around the world. Each month, three top stories will be published on Cambridge English blog. At the end of the competition, there will be twelve overall winners announced. Their stories will be printed as a collection in a bound book. One special story will be made into an animated film and also published on the Cambridge blog. All the Outright winners and monthly winners will be publicly announced via social media channels within thirty (30) days of the winners being notified that they have won and appear on the ELT blog site. Winners will receive the following prizes:
[1] A copy of the collection of stories for the winner, and one for the school.
[2] Goodie bags for the winner, their teacher and the entire class.
[3] Official certificate for all participants, teachers and children.

The competition aims to help primary students improve their reading, writing and critical thinking skills. The competition’s research team uses the data from the Corpus to see what children are interested in, and how they learn and use English. These findings help Cambridge English team train English teachers around the world and make Cambridge materials truly motivating for children.
