Opportunity description

Cartier is proud to announce its 2019 edition of Cartier Women's Initiative Awards. The Cartier Women's Initiative Awards is an annual international business plan competition created in 2006 to identify, support and encourage projects by women entrepreneurs. In this competition 21 finalists representing 7 regions (Latin America, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa, Far East Asia, South-East Asia) are selected during the first round, then these finalists are then invited to attend the Awards week, during which the second round of the competition takes place. After the final jury evaluation, 7 laureates, one for each region, are announced on stage during the Awards ceremony.

Eligibility criteria: 

To be considered for the Cartier Women's Initiative Awards, you must be a woman of any age leading a project, that must be an original for-profit early-stage business (1 to 3 years old). The condition about you and your  project must be as follows:

[1] For-profit: the business should be designed to generate revenues, non-profit project proposals not accepted.

[2] Originality: the business should be a new concept, wholly conceived by the founder or team, and not a copy or subsidiary of an existing business.

[3] Early stage: the business should be in the initial phase of its development (between 1-3 years).

[4] Revenue generation: the business should currently be generating revenue. It is understood that a business that is generating revenue is not necessarily profitable in its first years of operations.

[5] Women leadership & ownership: The main leadership position must be filled by a woman either in the capacity of Director, General Manager or CEO.

[6] Legal entry age: 18 or the age of legal majority in the country of citizenship.

[7] Good command of English required (both verbal and written).

The 21 participants who will reach the final round will receive:

[1] One-to-one personalized business coaching prior to the Awards week

[2] A series of entrepreneurship workshops, knowledge sessions and networking events during the Awards week

[3] Media visibility

[4] A scholarship to attend the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship 6-Day Executive Program.

[5] Networking opportunities through the Cartier Awards community and beyond.

The prize money

In addition to previous benefits, the winner will receive a special package which the first prize for the 7 laureates are US$ 100 000 in prize money and one-to-one personalized business mentoring. The second cash prize for the 14 finalists is US$ 30,000.
