After the first CEC in 2013 in Alexandria, Egypt and the CEC II in 2016 in Hammamet, Tunisia, NACE – Networking Arab Civic Education – once again seizes the opportunity to bring together a big number and variety of stakeholders of civic education from the Arab region, Europe, and southern and eastern Africa.
This year, focusing on “The Role of Civic Education for Social Cohesion”, the conference will assess the development of the sector and discuss the current state of civic education in the region, covering a variety of themes such as digitization, youth in civic education, or preventing violent extremism. Practices will be shared and networking will be at the center of the meeting.
People who are are active in the fields of formal and non-formal civic education or engaged in a project or institution working on human rights, information and communication technology, countering violent extremism, youth, migration and refugees, gender equality, social entrepreneurship, the relationship between religion and civic education, media and journalism, or arts and culture are encouraged to apply.
The Network especially encourages women and men from the Arab region to apply. Diversity of nationalities and a balance between genders will influence the selection of participants – besides applicants professional backgrounds and individual motivations.
Note: The conference language will be Arabic with translation to English and French.
Services and costs covered by the organizers:
- Overnight accommodation (Hotel Idou Anfa, single room accommodation) from December 4th to the 8th, 2018.
- Meals as indicated in the conference programme, plus breakfast at the hotel.
- Payment of a travel allowance according to your current place of residence.
- Costs for local public transportation between the airports or train stations and the place of the conference will be reimbursement in the form of a fixed lump-sum.
- A lump-sum for visa and health insurance costs.
