Facebook is offering an internship program in Washington and New York, USA for at least 12 weeks. The internship aims to make interns help people discover better content more quickly, connect with the things that matter most to them, find ways to deliver more engaging content in News Feed, rank search results more accurately, and present the most relevant ads possible. Applicants who are interested must be pursuing their PhD in computer science (related STEM or quantitative field) or a related field. They must also have expertise in C/C++, Java, Perl, PHP or Python. The chosen applicant’s responsibilities will be:
[1] Develop highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, regression, and rules-based models
[2] Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create effective feature roadmap
[3] Code deliverables in tandem with the engineering team
[4] Adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU)
[5]Perform specific responsibilities which vary by team
