Farouk Hosny Award in Contemporary Art Works and Cash Prize Valued EGP 50,000

The Farouk Hosny Foundation Award for Arts is an annual award to support artistic and cultural excellence. The award is presented annually by the foundation’s Board of Trustees in the presence of prominent leaders of Egypt’s cultural scene and is covered by reputable media and PR outlets. The Farouk Hosny Foundation Award for Arts is awarded to a contemporary emerging or established Egyptian artist as voted and selected by the Judging Committee based on creative input and artistic uniqueness and excellence.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. he applicant must be an Egyptian national
2. The age of the applicant is between 18-35 years when applying
3. The artwork should be original and produced by the applicant and the applicant owns all its intellectual rights
4. The artwork should be a painting only colors (acrylic – oil – multimedia)
5. The artwork is produced within the last two years (maximum as of 2017)
6. No other prizes have been won or awarded for the nominated artwork
7. The applicant may only participate with one artwork only
8. Any dimension of the artwork must not exceed 120 cm including the outer frame
9. The artwork image uploaded in the application form should be of high quality, clear and suitable for review and publication

The Artwork Image Criteria: 

The image of the artwork uploaded in the application form must be in JPEG or JPG format and should be of high quality and accuracy. The image size should not be less than 5 MB and not more than 10 MB, provided that the longest dimension of the image is not less than 2000 pixels and the quality is not less than 300 dpi.

Prize:

The Farouk Hosny Foundation Award for Arts consists of a medal and a cash prize (EGP 50,000), as well as an art exhibition of the winning artwork of the winner and the finalists. The finalists also receive certificates of appreciation.

Award Ceremony: The winner will be announced and awarded the prize on January 21, 2020. A group art exhibition for the winning and finalists artworks will be also inaugurated and held till January 31, 2020.
