The German Jordanian University (GJU) would like to announce that Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is granting Scholarships for B.A. "Translation: Arabic, English, German” program out of funds provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This program was established in September 2007, its unique in the region and even worldwide with its equal focus on three languages at the same competence level.
The scholarships are granted per year but are usually extended for the whole course of the program if the performance of the scholarship holders stays consistently above average
Eligibility Criteria:
[1] Students from Jordan and neighboring countries can apply for Surplace-Scholarships for 2018-2019.
[2] Certificate of general secondary education (Tawjihi) or equivalent with a minimum average of 70%.
[3] Arabic language skills (Mother tongue or advanced level)
[4] English language skills (Mother tongue or advanced level).
[5] Language Skills will be determined via written exam and interview.
Program graduates will be able to use their working languages confidently and in an appropriate way on an advanced B2 level, compose professional texts like reports, formal letters, summaries etc. as well as to do content writing in all of the three working languages, translate various kinds of (general and specialized) texts from various fields of knowledge, carry out translation tasks which go beyond the traditional tasks of a translator, such as website localization, and subtitling, make appropriate use of new information technologies and translation tools, interpret general conversations, use different kinds of references properly (dictionaries, parallel texts, online information sources etc.), communicate appropriately within their own culture as well as between different cultures, take on responsibility and work both individually and in teams, identify translation/interpretation problems and find ways of solving them, work on both the national and international level, conduct research on specific questions from the areas of translation, culture and language, adapt easily and independently to new contexts of work, as they will do an internship in Germany.
The scholarships comprise of
[1] A lump sum that covers the study fees or part of the study fees at the GJU.
[2] A monthly allowance that approximately covers the costs of living during the year in Germany.
[3] A travel allowance for two way trip to Germany and for once.
