The US Embassy in Algeria is pleased to announce the 2020 Hubert Humphrey Fellowship program for mid-career Algerian professionals for one year as a full-time scholarship program in the United States. This fellowship is for individuals working at the policy-level who have a record of leadership, a commitment to public service and the initiative to take full advantage of an independent study at a leading American university. The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished professionals from developing countries to the United States at a midpoint in their careers for a one-year of non-degree study and related professional activities. The program seeks to foster an exchange of knowledge and mutual understanding between American citizens and professional counterparts from Algeria. Successful applicants will be placed at participating universities in the United States starting June – August 2020 period.

- Communications/Journalism
- Law and Human Rights

- Educational Administration, Planning and Policy
- Higher Education Administration
- The teaching of English as a Foreign Language
Public Health:
- Public Health Policy and Management
- HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention
- Substance Abuse Education, Prevention, and Treatment
Applicants must:
- Be Algerian citizens.
- Hold a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree.
- A minimum of five years of full-time, professional experience (no “stages” will be considered).
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a record of public service in the community.
- English language ability as measured by TOEFL IBT (minimum score of 71 scores on TOEFL test).
- Limited or no prior experience in the United States.
- A commitment to returning to Algeria after completing the program and a clear vision of how Fellow, home institution, and Algeria will benefit from the Hubert Humphrey experience.
Note: Employees of the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. government and their immediate family members are not eligible for exchange opportunities.
What the Fellowship Covers:
This fellowship is fully funded by the US Embassy in Algeria and any expenses related to it will be covered by the Embassy.
