Opportunity description
The Trust Conference Change-makers Program invites frontline activists and human rights defenders from around the world to attend the annual conference 2019. The Trust Conference Change-makers Program offers access to an influential gathering of NGOs, heads of corporations, lawyers, public servants and philanthropists. This year, Change-makers will award up to 60 scholarships to applicants from diverse disciplines who will bring their unique perspectives and take action at Trust Conference.
The Thomson Reuters Foundation and the sponsors of Trust Conference will award places to exceptional applicants from across the world. Change-maker selection will be based on an objective rating system developed by the Foundation's review committee.
Eligibility
- The Trust Conference Changemakers Program is open to all applicants working in the areas of modern slavery, women's rights, economic empowerment, refugee support and other human rights areas.
- Priority will be given to applicants from developing countries who demonstrate that participation in the Trust Conference will enhance their work in their own communities.
- All applicants must speak English.
- Applicants who have attended the conference through the scholarship in previous years are not eligible to apply again.
Funding
Selected applicants will receive the following:
- A free day of specialized training and networking with other Changemakers on November 12, 2019.
- A potential financial bursary to support travel and accommodation costs. Support will be awarded in three tiers:
- Ticket only: One non-transferable ticket to attend both days of Trust Conference.
- Partial scholarship: One non-transferable ticket to attend both days of Trust Conference and a £750 bursary to help cover travel and accommodation expenses.
- Full scholarship: One non-transferable ticket to attend both days of Trust Conference and a £1,250 bursary to help cover travel and accommodation expenses.
- Free attendance at the Trust Conference on November 13 and 14, 2019.
- Their name and photo in Trust Conference marketing materials and on the official website.
About organization
Trust Conference, formerly Trust Women is an initiative established by Thomson Reuters Foundation that aims is to put the rule of law behind human rights and fight modern slavery through concrete action. As part of the Trust Conference's commitment to tangible action, Monique Villa announced the launch of the Stop Slavery Award, a new initiative by the Thomson Reuters Foundation to recognize companies leading the fight against modern slavery in their supply chains. The Award, designed by world-renowned artist Anish Kapoor, was conferred for the first time in November 2016.
