The proposed PhD project will investigate the potential of a technology-based intervention to initiate and maintain physical activity for people at risk of diabetes. This will involve a review of literature, a trial of the intervention, and examining mechanistic effects of the intervention. Specifically, the PhD will explore the potential effects of an eBike intervention on levels of physical activity, cardio-respiratory fitness, and metabolic health; physiological mechanisms will also be examined.
