Opportunity description

Wellcome is offering nationals of low- and middle-income countries the opportunity to lead their own research program by applying to the International Intermediate Fellowships 2019 that deals with the field of Public Health. 

Eligibility criteria:

  1. You are a national of a low or middle-income country
  2. Your proposed research focuses on a health priority in a low or middle income country
  3. You have sponsorship from an eligible host organization in a low or middle income country
  4. You have PhD or you are a clinically qualified doctor (and qualified to enter higher specialist training), vet, dentist or clinically qualified psychologist
  5. You have significant research experience
  6. Important contributions to your area of research

What is expected of the fellow:

  1. Achieving international standing in your area of research
  2. Be leading your own research program
  3. Having the skills and experience to apply for senior level fellowships or permanent positions at a research organization

Selection criteria:

  1. Research contributions
  2. Scientific merit of the proposed project
  3. The significance of the research
  4. The feasibility of the proposal
  5. The suitability of your sponsor and host environment for both your research and for the development of your independent career
