Opportunity description
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) is offering fellowships to young scientists in developing countries to enable them to spend months at a research institution in a developing country other than their own. TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training aim to enhance the research capacity of promising scientists, especially those at the beginning of their research career, helping them to foster links for further collaboration. The program is in Natural Sciences which includes Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Earth, Engineering, Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Multidisciplinary and Physics.
Eligibility criteria:
[1] The fellowships are offered to young scientists holding at least a Master’s or equivalent degree
[2] Applicants must be working in any area of Natural Sciences, must be citizens of a developing country and employed by a research institution in a developing country
[3] There is no age limit. However, preference is given to scientists at the beginning of their research career
[4] Institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in China are not eligible host institutions under this program
[5] The fellowships are offered for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months
Benefits:
Fellowships are awarded by the committee on the basis of scientific merit. TWAS covers international low-cost airfare plus a contribution towards subsistence amounting to a maximum of $300. The host institution is expected to provide accommodation and food as well as research facilities.
