Opportunity description

Aziz Al Ghurair School of Advanced Computing (ASAC) in Jordan is offering a fully-funded scholarship in software development course with employment opportunities. The scholarship has a duration of six months and is part of the American Code Fellows Academy Short Courses Program in Software Development. The course is suitable for beginners who want to learn technical skills to become a professional software developer. In addition to engineering or information technology graduates who want to develop their technical skills within six months.

The program covers the following short courses:

  • Explore Software Development, Code 101: If you are interested in the world of software development but are unsure how to embark on this path, a beginner software development course is the first step towards discovering whether this field is suitable for you. Duration: 1 day
  • Intro to Software Development, Code 102: Gain a deeper understanding of programming by applying the concepts and terms you learned in Code 101, while navigating your way around complex interfaces. Duration: 1 week.
  • Foundations of Software Development, Code 201: This course will take your capabilities to a whole new level, enabling you to create your own technically-functional web apps, as well as develop methods to design, organize and manage software projects. During each class, you will acquire and apply a different concept, which requires your ongoing commitment, practice and cooperation, so that you may ultimately shape your own software developer mindset. Duration: 4 weeks / 160 hours.
  • Intermediate Software Development, Code 301: This course picks up from Code 201 and immerses you into the core of software development. You will learn Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and Object-Oriented Programming, as well as computer science fundamentals such as basic data structures and algorithms. Learn how to create and launch web apps in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with the help of third-party application programming interfaces (API) and libraries. Duration: 4 weeks / 160 hours.
  • Advanced Software Development, Code 401: In this intensive course, you will study algorithms and data structures and practice software development using advanced systems and programs such as server-side Node.js and client-side React.js. In less than four months, you will be ready to enter the technical job market; switch your career path and bring innovation to software development; or double your salary as a professional developer holding senior positions in tech companies. Duration: 10 weeks / 400 hours

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be between 18-30 years old.
  • English language level: Intermediate.
  • He must be a Syrian refugee registered with the UNHCR, holding a security card, and residing in Jordan.
  • It is preferable to have a bachelor’s degree or a diploma, and there are also exceptions for holders of a high school diploma.
  • The accepted applicant must provide proof of the aforementioned copies with proof of housing (bills or rental contract).

LTUC’s Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair School of Advanced Computing (ASAC) was inaugurated in 2019 to build the software development and programming skills and capabilities of learners while qualifying them for current and future employment within these fields. The up-to-date programs were designed based on extensive studies conducted with multiple companies, which highlighted a pressing need for competent graduates to fill and excel in the growing number of technical vacancies available within local and international markets. The College of Advanced Computing is located on the fourth floor of Luminus Technical University College, and extends over an area of 1,600 square meters, with a capacity of 400 students for all available educational programs.
