Opportunity description
La Napoule Art Foundation (LNAF) in France invites artists from all around the world engaged in a wide spectrum of artistic practice to participate in a Group Residency in order to engage in cultural interchange and the creation of art that impacts the world for the common good. It will take place from March 1 to 31, 2019.
Eligibility:
[1] The residency is open to individual artists above 18 from all disciplines and nationalities
[2] Participants may apply once every year
[3] Participants are expected to be able to communicate effectively in English or French
[4] Priority may be given to artists who have not yet received an LNAF Residency
[5] Couples may apply separately and there are no provisions for family, friends, children or pets
What is expected of residents:
[1] Work and living space must be properly maintained and left in the same condition in which it was found
[2] It is expected that each participant will conduct his or herself with a high level of professionalism while in residence
[3] All equipment and materials are the responsibility of the artist
[4] The use of illegal drugs or the possession of such drugs on the premises is prohibited
[5] There is a fee for any overnight guests, based on availability, and prior approval is required
[6] To enrich the artist’s experience, it is expected that each resident will use every available opportunity, including mealtimes, to build community and friendship, and to exchange ideas and experiences
Selection criteria:
[1] Clarity of artistic vision as articulated in the artist statement and work samples
[2] Persuasive evidence that the applicant is committed in purpose and practice
[3] Clear evidence that the artist works at a professional level in his/her field
[4] Clear indications that the applicant is moving forward with his/her project; and of the significance and critical role that the residency will play in that project
[5] Willingness to work in a dynamic environment that encourages interaction with other artists
[6] Appropriate adherence to application guidelines
Benefits:
All successful participants receive accommodation, studio space, a $1,000 stipend, breakfast every morning, plus most evening meals.
About La Napoule Art Foundation:
La Napoule Art Foundation (LNAF), which was founded in 1951 by Marie Clews in memory of her husband, is a non-profit organization. It was her dream to create an international center for the arts that would promote cultural exchange and understanding. For over 60 years, LNAF has hosted performances, residencies and exhibitions, and in the last decade, LNAF has expanded its impact by hosting exhibitions and community outreach programs in the United States, as well as in France.
