Opportunity description
G(irls)20 is inviting young women from around the world to attend its 9th summit in Buenos Aires for a week of leadership training, social enterprise development and mentoring by female leaders in the business and public sectors. The summit will include workshops building leadership skills (from intelligence to strategic planning), and panels or speeches on the key issues facing girls and women globally with an emphasis on digital and financial inclusion. It will also involve developing a Communiqué to G20 leaders with recommendations based on the participants' unique experience and expertise, in addition to building a network of female mentors from public and private sectors. The summit will be held in October 14-20, 2018, and six weeks later, the G20 leaders will also meet to hold the annual G20 Summit. Eligible to apply is any young woman born between 1995-2001, who holds or can obtain a valid passport. Every applicant submits one idea for a policy recommendation to be incorporated into the Communiqué and one idea for a community development project to launch at home. Successful applicants will be expected to spend approximately 2 hours per week from June to October 2018 doing pre-summit work online, participate fully in the event and attend all sessions during the summit, and contribute to the development of the Communiqué.
Travel costs, accommodation, transportation, meals, travel insurance and visa fees will be covered. Participants will leave the summit with increased confidence, new skills, and a global network that will allow them to make change as community and global advocates.
