The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) invites nongovernmental organizations worldwide working to improve democratic goals and strengthen democratic institutions to apply for the grant. The grants are not made to individuals, governmental organizations, or public universities. Grant amounts depend on the size and the goal of the projects, but the average grant is around $50,000 and lasts for 12 months.
