Mophradat Foundation invites all artists to apply for its 2019 grants, in order to fund their proposed projects.  The call for the grants opens twice a year, in April and October. These grants are awarded for a variety of artistic projects, and aim at supporting artists; individuals, collaborations, or collectives to develop their practices.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicants must come from the field of contemporary arts though all disciplines are welcome.
  2. Activities or projects can take place anywhere in the world, but must be by artists or arts practitioners from or living in the Arab world, and/or engaged with the Arab world.
  3. Given the scale of Mophradat grants, applications for feature films production are not given the priority.
  4. Applicants must be primarily engaged with artistic concerns, not development-related concerns. And aim toward high artistic merit,
  5. Applications to attend degree-based study programs (such as MAs or PhDs) are out of the grant program’s scope, and will not be considered.
  6. The proposal must be achievable and completed within twelve months of the grant submission deadline.

Funding:

  • Approximately ten grants are awarded each calendar year, with an average value of $5,000.
  • Among other activities, the grants can be used to pursue threads of research, stage an event, make new work, publish, travel, take part in a residency or workshop, or present an exhibition or performance.
  • The grants can cover part or all of the proposed activity or project.

  1. A CV (maximum two pages) for individuals, and additional CVs for the individual members if a collaboration (maximum two pages each), or include a narrative in the space below, maximum 500 words for all collaborators.

  3. Explanation of how the activity or project for which the artist is applying relates to their practice, a maximum of 500 words.

About Mophradat:

Founded in Brussels in the year 2004 as the Young Arab Theater Fund/YATF, Mophradat was set up by Tarek Abou el Fetouh as the first support structure for artists and art organizations in the Arab world. Responding to changing needs over time and as of since 2015, Mophradat (YATF) has evolved from an organization committed to developing infrastructure for Arab performing arts to a contemporary arts organization working internationally and across disciplines to create diverse opportunities for professional Arab contemporary artists.
