MA scholarships for Engineers Funded by Erasmus Mundus & EMerald Program 2019

EMerald program -a program that provides MA degrees in engineering- is now accepting intakes for the 2019 Erasmus Mundus and EIT scholarships.

Eligibility

1. The program is aimed at candidates having  a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with basic knowledge in Geology ( minimum 3 years of study or 180 ECTS credits), or a Bachelor's Degree in Minerals Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or a Master degree in Geology.
2. The program will deliver an engineering diploma, therefore at least 22.5 ECTS in Mathematics at university level are required. 

Scholarships Available

[1] Erasmus & Erasmus Mundus Grants (full grants)

Scholarship Terms & Conditions:

1. If you have already benefited from an EMJMD scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus Master course scholarship, you can apply to the master course but you cannot apply to the Erasmus + scholarship.
2. Erasmus + divides the scholarship holders into two categories: those from partner countries (non-EU countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia) and those from program countries (EU countries + Norway+Turkey+ Iceland+Liechtenstein+ Macedonia). 75% of the scholarships will be granted to students of a partner country.
3. Any student is allowed to apply to a max. of 3 EMJMD programs.

Scholarship Contributions/Funding:

Contribution to the participation costs

a) The contribution to the participation costs includes the following:

• Registration fees
• Management fees (including laboratory expenses, supervision and running costs, etc.)
• Health and accident insurance coverage
• Access to the infrastructures of the universities (libraries, WIFI, etc.)
• Assistance from the international office at each University regarding administrative matters, accommodation, bank account, etc.

b) Contribution to the participation costs also includes:

• 4,500 EUR per year per Program Country scholarship holder.
• 9,000 EUR per year per Partner Country scholarship holder. (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia)

c) The contribution to participation costs is defined in the following way:

• Students whose nationality is one of the Erasmus+ Partner Countries and are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any Program Country are considered as Partner Country students. The five-year reference period for this 12-month rule is calculated backwards as from the submission deadline (defined by the consortia) of applying for an EMJMD student scholarship.
• Students whose nationality is one of the Erasmus+ Program Countries count as Program Country students.
• Students with a Partner Country nationality who do not fulfil the Partner Country criteria defined above (12-month rule) count as Program Country students.
• Students with a double nationality (of a Partner and of a Program Country) must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application.

Contribution to the travel and installation costs

a) Contribution to the travel and installation costs as follows:

• 1,000 EUR per year per scholarship holder resident of a Program country for travel costs
• 2,000 EUR per year for travel costs + 1000 EUR for installation costs for scholarship holder resident of a Partner Country whose location is situated at less than 4000 km from the coordinating institution.
• 3,000 EUR per year for travel costs + 1000 EUR for installation costs for scholarship holder resident of a Partner Country whose location is situated at 4000 km or more from the coordinating institution.

b) The contribution to the travel and installation costs takes into account ONLY the residence of the scholarship holder (regardless of the category under which the student has been enrolled).

Contribution to subsistence costs

a) Contribution to subsistence  costs (for both Program and Partner Country scholarship holders): 1,000 EUR per month for the entire duration of the EMJMD study program (24 months maximum).

b) Contribution to subsistence costs must NOT be given to:

• Scholarship holders for the EMJMD periods (study /research /placement /thesis preparation) spent in their country of residence;
• Partner Country Scholarship holders for the EMJMD periods exceeding three months (indicatively the equivalent of 15 ECTS) spent in any Partner Country.

[2] EIT grants (partial grants)

• The EIT grant of 9000€ will automatically be offered to all self-funded students. It doesn't cover the participation costs to the program but can partially cover your subsistence costs. 
• It is strictly forbidden to cumulate 2 European scholarship.

[3] ULiege grants (partial grants)

• Two "University of Liège grants" are awarded every year to two EMerald students. These grants are a partial financial support because they offer monthly allowances to students but do not cover registration fees.
• The grant for a European student: 20 monthly payments of 500€ and the refund of a round trip ticket per year between Belgium and the student's country of origin. 
• The grant for a non-European student: 24 monthly payments of 850€ and the refund of a round trip ticket per year between Belgium and the student's country of origin.
• To apply to this partial grant, you need to fill out the regular application webform where you will be asked whether you wish to apply to this grant. As the participation costs are not covered by the partial grant, you will be asked to provide us with a financial plan.

[4] EU grants (for the mobility of students)

All the students who will join the program on a self-funded basis have the opportunity to apply to the regular EU mobility grant. This grant is a contribution to their costs for travel and subsistence for a period of 12 months. These amounts will be defined by the National Agencies in agreement with National Authorities, and/or the higher education institutions. They should come to "between 250€ and 500€ per month". The students can apply to this grant upon their arrival at the University of Liège.
