Opportunity description
The Ferrier Research Institute at Victoria University in New Zealand is offering international students with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or any other related subject the opportunity to apply for a Master of Drug Discovery and Development scholarship for 2019. The one-year scholarship will equip graduates with the tools to enter the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and agrichemical sectors, as it has been designed in consultation with international leaders in related fields. Selection criteria includes academic performance, publications and/or conference proceedings, referee reports, and any other tangible demonstration of academic or research ability.
Eligibility criteria:
[1] Applicants must be students with undergraduate degrees in Chemistry or subjects such as Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy and Pharmacology
[2] Applicants must have a B+ average or higher in 300-level Chemistry, in addition to an acceptance letter from the relevant head of school
[3] The scholarship is only open to international students who do not have New Zealand residency and who are not New Zealand citizens
[4] Students will be expected to work on a research project under the supervision of a staff member approved by the Director of the Ferrier Research Institute
Value of scholarship and benefits:
The scholarship offers $15,000 towards the tuition fees of this program. In addition to a research project, students will benefit from coursework in a series of interdisciplinary subjects ranging from medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analytical chemistry and the formulation of drugs, to the regulatory framework in which pharmaceutical and similar companies operate and strategies to protect intellectual property.
