Opportunity description

University of York is offering Maria Bourboulis scholarship for highly qualified and motivated applicants from all around the word to take up their Masters studies in the Department of Sociology in September 2019 in York, United Kingdom.

Funding

The Maria Bourboulis scholarship is worth  £12,000 offered as stipend. 

Eligibility

  • Students from all around the world are eligible. However, they will be expected to show evidence that they can compensate for the difference between the Home/EU student fees and the International student fees.
  • Candidates must have applied for place a on a full time Masters course on one of the following courses:
  1. MA in Criminology and Social Research.
  2. MA in Social Media and Social Research.
  3. MA in Society, Culture and Globalization.
  4. MA in Sociology (by Research).
  • Begin your Masters studies in September 2019.
  • Have or expect to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent prior to commencing the Masters programme.
  • Applicants must provide evidence of their English language ability. They need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to. accepted tests: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic), PTE Academic, Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Cambridge Proficiency (CPE), TOEFL iBT (internet based), Trinity ISE.

Selection cirteria

  1. Candidates are selected on the basis of academic excellence.
  2. Final decisions are expected to will be made by the middle of July 2019. 
  3. Successful candidates will be contacted by the end of July 2019. 
  4. Successful candidates will be sent a formal letter confirming the offer of the Scholarship. The letter sets out the value and duration of the award. The letter asks candidates to accept the Terms of the Scholarship. 
  5. Successful applicants will receive an annual stipend of 12,000 euros. Award holders receive the balance as a cash bursary that will be paid directly into their bank account.

  • A personal statement that explains why you would like to undertake an MA/ MSc in our department at York and how the scholarship would be useful for you to achieve your goals. 
  • CV.
  • Previous degree certificates.
  • Academic transcripts and one reference letter.
