Opportunity description

In recognition of the importance of creativity and achievement, Taawon Foundation has launched a series of annual awards that focus on achievement and give to Palestinian institutions that have made positive and sustainable changes in their field of work and mission. One of the most important awards of Taawon is the Nabil Hani Kaddoumi Award for Excellence in Education.

The philosophy of the prize:

The philosophy of the Education Award is centered on the role of schools in embracing and developing creativity and excellence, and spreading the culture of excellence to create a creative generation. This opens the door for positive competition among education workers for excellence and creativity. "A good school is a school where students are doing more than they are expected to in the light of the potential and resources they have."

This award aims to:

[1] Encourage schools to promote a culture of excellence and competition among themselves through the implementation of distinctive community education initiatives.

[2] Highlight the role of privileged schools as a community unit and as a model that can be generalized.

The Prize:

The award is worth US $ 50,000, and an honorary shield bearing the name of the winning school in addition to the slogan of "Taawon". The prize is distributed as follows:

[1] 70% of the Prize's value is given to the winning school to be spent on the aspects of the development of the school and enable it to do its educational and social role to the fullest.

[2] 30% of the Prize's value is allocated to teachers who are the owners of the idea of the initiative or the project either in cash or through the development of their abilities.

This award targets schools (public, private, UNRWA schools) in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, Palestinian camps in Lebanon and the 1948 areas, taking into account the specificity of each region and the potential of advanced schools.

Applying schools must:

[1] Be Palestinian and work in targeted areas. (The West Bank including Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian camps in Lebanon and the 1948 areas).

[2] Be in existence for more than 3 years.

[3] Be licensed and approved by the Ministry of Education in the case of private schools.

[4] Not have won any other prizes. In case the initiative offered by the school has received only a moral award (non-material), it can apply for the Education Award in order to support the initiative and its owners.

Note: A winning school has the right to apply for the prize again and for the same idea after developing, or it can apply with a new idea three years after its victory.
