Opportunity description
The Wood Hole Oceanography Institution (WHOI) invites professional science writers, producers, and editors working for print, broadcast, radio, and internet media to apply for the one-week residential Ocean Science Journalism fellowship in the US. The program is designed to introduce science journalists to the wide-ranging fields of oceanography and ocean engineering. Applicants must have at least two years of writing, producing, or editing experience for a general-interest audience. Freelancers, book authors, and writers from nontraditional media may also be considered, but should be able to show a substantial portfolio of work. Fellows will gain access to new research findings and fundamental background information in engineering, marine biology, geology, marine chemistry, geochemistry, and physical oceanography.
The institution covers travel and accommodation expenses for the residency period.
