The Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) announces its call for nominations of entrepreneurial projects for the One Million Dollar International AGFUND Prize 2018. Nominations are invited from the United Nations, international and regional organizations, ministries and public institutions, social business enterprises, national NGOs, individuals and development actors worldwide. The nominated projects must address the first goal of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 2030 ”End of poverty in all its forms everywhere”.
AGFUND Prize amounts to $1,000,000, divided into four categories:
[1] the first category prize ( valued at $400,000) is specified for projects implemented by UN agencies or international and regional NGOs
[2] the second category prize (valued at $300,000) is specified for projects implemented national NGOs
[3] the third category prize (valued at $200,000) is specified for projects implemented governmental bodies (ministries and public institutions) or social business enterprises
[4] the fourth category prize (valued at $100,000) is specified for projects initiated, funded and/or implemented by individuals
Evaluation criteria
The nominated projects are evaluated by an International team of experts according to specific criteria based on elements of creativity in the project, the efficiency and effectiveness of its management as well as on its impact. In addition, the evaluation shall be conducted on the basis of the information provided in the Nomination Form, all supporting documents and field visits to the project site if needed.
Winners will be invited to the Award Ceremony of AGFUND in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Talal Bin Abdul Aziz and a qualitative presence of more than one thousand attendees.
About the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) Prize:
AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Human Development Projects is an annual prize established in 1999 by the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), with the aim of inciting and encouraging innovation and creativity in human development work. AGFUND Prize is considered to be the first initiative of its kind to identify successful development projects, reward them and disseminate their innovative ideas to best contribute to the improvement of development work. It is also an innovative approach and a strategic instrument to exchange successful experiences to strengthen the mechanisms of development cooperation and project funding with special emphasis on the most prominent factors that militate against development and affect the vulnerable groups, particularly women and children in developing countries. These include poverty, social exclusion, socio-economic marginalization, education and health.
