Opportunity description

The University of Oxford is offering Graduate Scholarships for the academic year 2019-2020. The scholarship is only tenable at Oxford's Wadham College. All eligible applicants will be considered for this scholarship, regardless of which college (if any) they state as a preference on the graduate application form.  However, successful applicants will be transferred to Wadham College in order to take up the scholarship.

Fields of Study Covered by the Scholarship

Three full scholarships are available, one in each of the following fields:

  1. One award to applicants to the full-time DPhil in Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics;
  2. One award for applicants to any full-time or part-time master's or DPhil course in the Department of Chemistry, within the range accepted by Wadham College;
  3. One award for applicants applying to any full-time or part-time master's or DPhil course in the Department of Economics, within the range accepted by Wadham College.

Preference will be given to applicants working on interdisciplinary topics. To check whether the course you are planning to apply for is accepted by Wadham College, please review the relevant Course page.

Funding

The scholarship covers course fees and a grant for living costs of at least £14,777. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course. The scholarship is jointly funded by the University and David Richards’ generous bequest.

Eligibility

  1. Academic requirements: Every course page has a section about entry requirements for the course with minimum degree classifications in both UK terms (eg First, Upper Second) and a US Grade Point Average or GPA (eg 3.5 on a scale up to 4.0).
  2. English Language requirements.

Selection Process

  • The eligibility criteria will be applied automatically, using the details you provide in the relevant sections of the graduate application form (for example, your country of ordinary residence and your previous education institutions), to determine whether you are eligible.
  • Selection is based on academic merit unless specified otherwise.
  • Some of the scholarships are only tenable at specific colleges. Unless specified otherwise, you do not need to select that college as your preference on the graduate application form. All eligible applicants will be considered, regardless of which college (if any) you state as your preference. However, successful applicants will be transferred to the relevant college in order to take up the scholarship.
  • Applicants who hold deferred offers to start in 2019-20 are not eligible to be considered for these scholarships.
