Opportunity description
The European Youth Portal offers two volunteering opportunities for one year in Italy, during the period from 1 October 2018 till 30 September 2019. This opportunity is open to youth from any country around the world. Volunteer activities will take place mainly in Matera, the city where the Center is located. Among the activities planned, the center has started a network project for the Basilicata, called "131 ideas for 131 municipalities", with the aim of stimulating the creation of projects in territorial areas that allow the connection of Basilicata to Europe and Europe to Basilicata, through funding from the various direct and indirect European Commission programs . For this reason, Europe Direct Matera will be increasingly active throughout the territory regional and, thanks to the presence of EVS volunteers, the organization intends to intensify and branch out collaborations with public bodies, companies and third sector actors of the Province of Matera and of Potenza, with the aim of making the opportunities put in place by Europe known, such as calls, initiatives that, more often than not, are not exploited to the fullest. Volunteers will live in a shared flat in the city and will get daily allowance and pocket money. Local transport will be covered by the organization.
Training during the project:
Long-term volunteers will be followed during all the activities by a tutor who will favor them job placement and integration within the working group, thus favoring one full and active participation in all the activities of the Foundation. The tutor will organize meetings programming periodicals in which the other members of the Foundation will participate, and will be made available to contribute to the resolution of any voluntary need. In order to facilitate the integration of the volunteer not only in the organization, but also in the local community, a mentor will be identified.
Volunteer profile:
[1] Candidates will be assessed on the basis of their curriculum vitae and motivational letter.
[2] Basic knowledge of the Italian language, in addition to a good level of English is preferred.
[3] A marked interest in Community policies and European integration.
[4] Previous experiences in similar activities.
[5] Openness to multiculturalism and the desire to grow personally and professionally.
