Portrait of Humanity – an international photography award – invites photographers from all over the world focusing on unifying the global community. The aim of the award is to get an insight into the lives of people from across the globe, to capture laughter, courage, moments of reflection, journeys to work, first hellos, last goodbyes, and everything in between.
Participate in the competition by:
[1] Becoming an ambassador: The award is looking for social influencers, people who are motivated to play a role in unifying the global community and making a difference.
[2] Becoming a media partner: Join the movement if you are a media organization, group, or agency that is able to spread our message to the furthest corners of the world.
[3] Becoming a venue partner: Connect with the competition if your festival, gallery, or space would like to play a part in hosting the greatest global exhibition of our generation.
[4] Becoming an award sponsor: Handpicked sponsors will be given the opportunity to align their brands with the most far-reaching and inclusive social engagement project ever undertaken.
Award:
[1] Be Exhibited Worldwide: 50 winning images will be exhibited around the world.
[2] Share $10,000 in Grants: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will share $10,000 in grant awards to create projects that explore their interpretations of humanity.
[3] International Press Coverage: the winning images will receive press coverage on BJP-online and around the world.
[4] Your work featured in a book: 200 shortlisted images will be published in the Portrait of Humanity book, distributed worldwide.
[5] This is a unique opportunity to get your images in front of a jury of curators, editors, and festival directors, who may be looking for new artists and work to show, represent, or propose projects to.

Portrait of Humanity is a new global initiative by 1854 Media, publisher of British Journal of Photography, in partnership with Magnum Photos. It serves as a timely reminder that despite our many differences we are able to unite as a global community through the power of photography, to create one of the greatest collaborative photography exhibitions in history. The shared values of the initiative is individuality, community, and unity.
